Black plays the solid but passive 3...Be7, avoiding all the sharp complications of 3...Bc5 and 3...Nf6. White gets a comfortable position with easy development, but Black's setup is extremely solid and hard to crack. Occasionally seen as a surprise weapon to avoid preparation.
