Black fianchettoes the dark-squared bishop to g7, creating the fearsome 'dragon' formation that rakes across the long diagonal. White often responds with the Yugoslav Attack, castling queenside and launching a kingside pawn storm, leading to one of chess's sharpest and most theoretically dense battlegrounds.
